Tritin Windows
Applications
When most people who live in South Florida or the Caribbean think of Impact Resistant Windows and Doors, they immediately relate them to Hurricanes. However, there is a world of benefits that can be had from such products that many people may not be aware of. Some of these include:
Energy Efficiency
Hurricane Protection
Theft Protection
Noise Reduction
Sun / UV Protection
Insurance Savings
Triton Window Distributors enjoys educating its customers on all of these items so that the customer can obtain the most use out of their windows and doors.
In today’s world of growing concern for our environment, Triton Window Distributors has been pushing its Insulated products more than ever. Aside from helping our environment by keeping your home from using excess energy, which in turn means less pollution for the planet, energy-efficient windows have a monetary benefit for the homeowner – significant savings on your home’s energy bill each month.
Energy-efficient windows, also referred to as insulated glass windows, consist of two panes of glass separated by a space. The perimeter of the glass is sealed, allowing no movement of outside air into the space. The space itself can be filled with dehydrated air, or with a special gas. The type of glass, the type of spacer, and the type of gas used in the space contribute to the overall insulating efficiency of the glass.
The glass for these insulated products comes either coated or uncoated. Coated glass is referred to as “LoE,” which stands for “low emissivity.” This coating is a thin layer of metallic oxide that decreases the transmission of heat through the glass. It also decreases the amount of Ultraviolet Light (UV) that enters your home, which protects furniture and carpets from being faded.
The gas that is used to fill the space between the glass is argon – the highest quality available. This gas has qualities that decrease the movement of heat through the space, giving improved efficiency.
What does all of this mean to you, the customer? Annual savings for those who choose energy-efficient windows can be anywhere between $600 - $900 in Florida.
Hurricane protection is often the first benefit that customers focus on when shopping for windows, especially those in the Southeast United States and the Caribbean. All Impact products sold by Triton Window Distributors are approved by Miami-Dade standards, the strictest in the country. They are tested by shooting a 9 foot 2X4 at 50 mph straight into the glass, assuring homeowners that they are getting the protection they need in the case of a big storm. Aside from protection when a storm hits, Impact windows allow for the convenience of not having to put up storm shutters at the last minute and feeling trapped in your home for days, as well as improving the “look” of your home.
Aside from Hurricane protection, impact windows also offer 24-hour protection from intruders. The picture below is a sample of what happened to one of our customers when someone tried to enter their home. After trying to break the glass and failing, they tried to pry open the lock, which they failed at as well.
Another added benefit to having impact resistant windows and doors is noise reduction. Many clients have told us that while inside their homes, they couldn’t hear the noise of a party outside. Reduced traffic noise has also been an added benefit to many homeowners.
Most insurance companies offer significant discounts to those who replace all of their windows and doors with impact products. We often recommend to our customers that they contact their insurance companies to see what kind of promotions they can benefit from.
